Meet the Leaders

Hannah has been our Office and Communications Coordinator at WBC for about 2 months now, but how well do you know her? Click to learn more about her.

Tell us a bit about yourself and your family

I grew up in the Southern Highlands in a loving family of six. In 2009 I moved to the Gong for university and met my husband Ed at a WBC Bible Study group led by Pete Reeve. Thanks Pete.

What is your role at WBC?

I am the ‘Office & Communications Coordinator’ – the way I see it, my job has two hats. The first one I hang out in the office with some fantastic volunteers getting administration tasks done (rosters, calendar bookings, organisation for Sunday services etc). The second hat is looking at effective communication both internally and externally from WBC via social media, websites, other digital media, and printed material.

What are you most excited about in your new role?

I’m really excited about the potential of improving communications and planning within the church. I’m hoping this role can assist in reducing workloads for pastoral staff and help WBC communicate well with each other and the community. Administration roles have the potential to make things easier for leaders and volunteers to focus their energy on their ministry which I hope I can do.

What do you like to do for fun?

I really enjoy bike riding, bush-walking, craft, coffee dates and eating out. Sometimes though the best thing is just completely relaxing with a movie or TV show.

What sport do you like? Which team/s do you support?

It’s a running joke in my family that despite previously having a career in the fitness industry I have never been a fan of watching sports. I once had a whole conversation with Wayne Bennett and had no idea who he was. When I was in high school I really enjoyed playing basketball at lunch times but I’m seriously uncoordinated and other than Michael Jordan I wouldn’t be able to name another professional basketball player.

What would be your ideal holiday destination?

New Zealand for sure, it’s just so beautiful in so many ways. I really enjoy the scenery and being able to go riding and bush walking there. Even driving is fun.

What is one thing about you that no one at church knows?

Hmm this is both something people don’t know but also a recommendation. I really enjoy freezing chocolate cake and eating it frozen – for some reason it’s just even better.

Can you recommend 3 Christian books to read?

1. What’s So Amazing About Grace – Philip Yancey
2. The Screwtape Letters – C.S. Lewis
3. The Jesus I Never Knew – Philip Yancey
